Summer Earn and Learn (SEAL) Program
The Summer Earn and Learn (SEAL) program is a paid work-based learning opportunity designed to help students with disabilities gain meaningful job experience, develop workplace skills, and build confidence for future employment.
Offered through Workforce Solutions of the Concho Valley in partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission and Vocational Rehabilitation Services, SEAL connects students with local employers for structured, supportive summer work experiences.
What SEAL Offers
Participants in the SEAL program receive:
- Paid, real-world work experience with local employers
- Job readiness training focused on communication, teamwork, and workplace expectations
- On-the-job support and guidance from employment specialists
- Exposure to career pathways aligned with individual interests and strengths
Who Can Participate
SEAL is designed for students who:
- Are typically ages 14–22 (eligibility may vary by program guidelines)
- Have a documented disability
- Are eligible for services through Texas Workforce Commission Vocational Rehabilitation Services
- Are motivated to explore employment and build job skills
Must be enrolled in one of the following:
- Secondary education (high school)
- Alternative or nontraditional education (such as homeschooling)
- Postsecondary education (college, trade school, or other training programs)
How It Works
The SEAL program combines classroom-style preparation with hands-on employment:
- Work Readiness Training – Students learn essential soft skills for success in the workplace
- Job Placement – Participants are matched with local employers based on interests and strengths
- Paid Work Experience – Students work during the summer in real job settings with ongoing support
