Tequil is an active participant in our WIOA Dislocated Worker Program. After being laid off from his previous employer, Tequil turned a challenging situation into an opportunity to pursue a long-held goal: earning his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). While he had always been interested in a career in trucking, the timing had never been right, until now.
With support from Workforce Solutions, Tequil enrolled in the CDL training program at Howard College in February 2025, and successfully completed it in March 2025. Throughout the process, he demonstrated dedication and professionalism, maintaining consistent communication with his Career Navigator, submitting weekly timesheets, and providing documentation of both his CDL permit and final license.
Following his training, Tequil received multiple job offers from respected companies, including FedEx, UPS, and Caron Transportation. After careful consideration, he chose a position with Caron Transportation, which offers an hourly wage of $18 and, importantly, allows him to return home each day to be with his family, a key factor in his decision.
