Sara Rodriguez is currently enrolled in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Out-of-School Youth (OSY) Program and is actively participating in a Work Experience (WEX) placement with the Concho Valley Council of Governments (CVCOG). She began her WEX in November 2025, and is on track to successfully complete the placement on in January.
In less than a month on the job, Sara has already made an outstanding impression. Our team connected with her supervisor, who described Sara as a valuable asset to the workplace. She consistently arrives early, demonstrates a strong work ethic, and is always willing to assist her coworkers. They also shared that Sara brings a positive attitude and enthusiasm to the team, contributing to a productive work environment. Due to her performance, there is already discussion about the possibility of a permanent position with CVCOG following the completion of her WEX.
Through the WIOA Program, Sara has received support services designed to remove barriers to employment and help her succeed at work. This included assistance with obtaining required scrubs and non-slip tennis shoes. Sara was extremely excited to receive her new shoes, noting that they help her remain comfortable and productive throughout her workday.
In addition to her WEX placement, Sara has been enrolled in the WRK Koncepts Program since October 2025. As part of the program, she completes 10 training modules each week. Weekly reports from her mentor show that she is making excellent progress and consistently completing her coursework as required.
Sara’s dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment to her personal and professional growth reflect the positive impact of the WIOA Program. Her story highlights how work experience, training, and supportive services can come together to help young adults build skills, confidence, and clear pathways toward long-term career success.
